Le Repos

Wednesday, we visited the Cleveland Museum of Art, where I spent about five minutes staring at this stunning painting by William Adolphe Bouguereau:

Le Repos (Rest)
This has always been one of my favorites, but I was never able to see it in person before. Once again, I'm left daydreaming about From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler. Don't you wish you could live in a museum?

  4. YES! I used to be so jealous of those children. And this painting is gorgeous, perfection. I'm always so amazing at how art can look so real.

  6. Did anyone ever tell you the story of your sister-in-law seeing her first Caravaggio on loan to the Atheneum when she was about eleven or twelve? Did you have the girls with you for the Cleveland Museum of Art experience? Safe home if you're not back already!
