BEST. DAY. EVER. Cover Reveal for Red Butterfly, by A. L. Sonnichsen!
There is nothing--nothing, I say!--better about being part of the writing world than chances to celebrate the success of friends. So I am particularly joy-filled today because the lovely, talented, and always amazing Amy Sonnichsen has asked me to help her reveal her cover for Red Butterfly, a novel in verse which releases in February 2015 (but you can preorder it today!).
First, let me introduce Amy:
Isn't she beautiful?
If you don't know her already, let me share some very interesting facts about her:
1. She is the mother of 5 children. That alone makes her a particular hero of mine, right up there with other large family writer-mamas like Eileen Spinelli and Harriet Beecher Stowe.
2. She loves Brussels sprouts. And ice cream. Not together, I presume, though I could be wrong.
3. She grew up in Hong Kong, which (as I've recently learned through her posts) is one of the most beautiful places in the world.
4. She's hilarious. And quite good at hacky sack.
5. She has a lovely cover for her book, and I get to share it with you! Here it is:

Here is what the back cover says:
Kara never met her birth mother. Abandoned as an infant, she was taken in by an elderly American woman living in China. Now eleven, Kara spends most of her time in their apartment, wondering why she and Mama cannot leave the city of Tianjin and go live with Daddy in Montana. Mama tells Kara to be content with what she has … but what if Kara secretly wants more?
Told in lyrical, moving verse, Kara’s story is one of a girl learning to trust her own voice, discovering that love and family are limitless, and finding the wings she needs to reach new heights.
Congratulations, Amy! Thanks for letting me celebrate with you!
