Great deal for writer-mamas!

(Actually, for any mamas...)

When I make a mental list of the writing tools I couldn't live without, my baby carriers come in right after my laptop and nice pens. Having the baby in a sling or wrap allows me to write without worrying about baby (I know she's safe and not having her eyes poked by her big sisters...), keeps baby content (hey, she's not worring about having her eyes poked by her big sisters either!) and, most importantly for writing, keeps both my hands free to type far more efficiently.

Zoe's carrier of choice was a moby wrap (super-est invention ever), but Genevieve currently prefers being held in one of these, a traditional sling from the company Seven Slings:

(I wish I could say that was me in the picture, but I am not quite that cute. :) It's from their website...My sling is that pretty pattern, though!)

Currently, Seven Slings is having a promotion, in which you can get a sling for FREE--you only pay shipping and handling. Just enter the promo code: "breastfeeding" (it's in honor of World Breastfeeding Week) at check-out.

So, if you have a baby and you've never tried a sling, now would be a great time to take the plunge. (And of course if you already love slings, who can't use another for color-coordinating outfits, right?) Your writing will thank you!

  1. Thanks, Faith! I've been hoping to get one of their slings soon - I kept missing the other freebie offers when they came up earlier this year. Thanks!

  2. Yup, the babies and I loved the sling. I have a friend from Zimbabwe who tried to teach me to carry the baby on the back held by a large bath-towel, but I could never get the hang of it. I was amazed at how quickly and efficienty she tied the baby to her back and the knots never came undone.

  3. I came really close to ordering one of these. What a great deal! But then my hubs reminded me that I already have a sling (although it's not quite as cool) and that our baby is our last baby, so he was wondering if I could really justify spending fifteen dollars on something like this.... He's right. Sigh.

But hey, I'd never thought of putting the baby in the sling to write. That's such a wonderful idea. When I'm typing she always tips forward and comes close to whacking her head on the desk. I'm following this advice, for sure!
