Tea and Telemann

Some prettiness for you today!

Mark's most recent painting, Tea and Telemann, won the Diane Aeshliman Award in the Madison Art Society's Annual Juried Exhibition and Sale. Here it is, hanging on the wall of the Scranton Memorial Library in Madison, Connecticut, where you can see it if you're local or feel like driving long distances to have some tea with me! :) The exhibition runs through May 30.

If you have a photographic memory, you will recall that Mark won an award in the same exhibition last year, but I was never able to post a picture because my camera was broken. Now that we have a new camera, I can share this shot of The Bride's Prayer. Which, even if you don't have a photographic memory, you may recognize as me. :)

  1. Whoa! He has mad talent! You look really beautiful as bride. Contemplative.

    1. I know...mad talent is his specialty. I think it says about my overabundance of self-confidence that I enjoy being married to a guy like him. :)

  2. Congratulations to Mark on his award! The painting of you is stunning :) I see a resemblance to Rose in this painting too - or am I just crazy?

    1. Thanks, Rachel! No, I see it--I think it's because he made the hair a shade darker than mine usually is.

  3. Oh, so beautiful! I do remember that Mark won this contest last year and so thankful you posted A Bride's Prayer. He definitely captured a prayerful moment.

Congratulations Mark!!! May God bless all your works.

    1. Thank you!! The second painting is really special to me, of course...I'm very grateful it didn't sell last year! The funny part was that it's not actually a wedding picture...I had to dress up in the gown (which by now is quite a bit too big for me) and pose--luckily you can't see the two-year-old who is hanging about my feet and testing the limits of the prayerful expression. :)

  4. Both are totally beautiful. And blue and white china is my favorite!

    1. Ours, too. :) Mark saw the cup and saucer in an antique store and just knew he wanted to paint it--but now I get to add it to my collection! :)

  5. Wow! so much talent. The details on the wedding gown are amazing. :)

PS: I came from Barbara Watson's blog and just had to leave a comment and fangirl the paintings.

    1. Thank you!
And yes...definitely a lot of time. There were some nights when Mark would start painting at 10:30 and keep going until 3:30! (Have to love that creative flow...)

  7. One blog post:
    1.) takes my breath away.
2.) illustrates in such a beautiful way the fruits of perseverance applied to "making good art."
    3.) provides blessed encouragement.

    Thank you so much.
