Le Repos
Wednesday, we visited the Cleveland Museum of Art, where I spent about five minutes staring at this stunning painting by William Adolphe Bouguereau:

Oh, I wish I could disappear into this painting! Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGosh, I LOVE that book. It's one of my favorite MG novels. And yes, I wish I could live in a museum. That's a lovely painting; I've never seen it before.
ReplyDeleteI remember being eight years old and my mom and I took turns reading that book to each other-- still one of my favorites=) We were actually just talking about that museum this past week and my grandparents visited yesterday and said it was fabulous!! And I just LOVE that painting. . .I've always wished I could paint like that=)
ReplyDeleteYES! I used to be so jealous of those children. And this painting is gorgeous, perfection. I'm always so amazing at how art can look so real.

What a breathtaking painting. I love the lap child's expression. Gorgeous! How wonderful that you got to see it in person!
ReplyDeleteDid anyone ever tell you the story of your sister-in-law seeing her first Caravaggio on loan to the Atheneum when she was about eleven or twelve? Did you have the girls with you for the Cleveland Museum of Art experience? Safe home if you're not back already!
